THE LOCATION
Ocean Sounds is located on the artificial island known as " Hulhumale'", formerly this area was a vast sunken island known locally as a "Falhu", Earlier there were three islands in this shallow lagoon surrounded by a reef. In the 1960's t wo of them "Gaadhoo and Hulhule had been connected to make the international airport . The third island known as "Farukolhufushi" remains as it is and is now a tourist resort operated under the name" Club Faru".
When Hulhumale' was reclaimed ClubFaru was proposed to become a part of Hulhumale' but now it appears for the time being it would continue to be a tourist resort.
Hulhumale' is being developed to alleviate the housing shortage found in the the capital Male' which lies some 5km away.. Though it is reclaimed land you will now find lot of greenery with casuarina trees and palm trees all over the island.
You can find all facilities you expect in a small town. There is a hospital, a police station, a bank and many shops and restaurants. Regular ferry services operate between the capital Male' and Hulhumale'.
Ocean Sounds is located on the eastern seafront of Hulhumale' where you can see magnificient sun rises and moon rises from the horizon touching the vast Indian Ocean.
